Dixe takes Road Game in Cedar!

On Tuesday Dixie visited Cedar to continue region play. The Varsity girls faced a physical contest with the Lady Reds who tried their darndest to "out hustle and out muscle" the Lady Flyers. However Dixie held strong on the large, grass pitch and controlled possession for most of the game. Dixie opened the scoring when Dally fond the back of the net in the 10th minute. Dixie then held strong for the rest of the game until 3 minutes from time when Kenzie Cox aka "The Queen of Left" found the net again this season with another amazing angled shot from Her Majesty. That would be it at Dixie went on to win 2-0 and go 3-1 in region play.

J.V. also survived an even tuffer physical battle as girls fell all over the pitch and had to survive with limited subs. Dixie opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the first half awarded when Fabiana was taken down in the box. Alexis Winward then calmly went to the spot and buried the PK. Dixie held on until half way through the second half when Cedar equalized on a corner. Dixie, bloodied but unbowed, continued to fight back until the last minute in the game, when Fabiana was again taken down in the box and awarded a PK. Elle Roberts stepped to the spot this time and buried the winner. The J.V. showed great character in hanging on and battling for the win. Good job girls!

Next up Snow Canyon.

Flyers fall to Panthers

On Tuesday the 31st the Flyers travelled to Pine View to take on the Panthers. Dixie did extremely well through the first half in containing the Pine View attack keeping the Panthers to only 2 shots on goal. However Dixie seemed to have a hard time finding the net in the run of play. The 0-0 score line would be broken in the 38th minute when Dally scored off of a Madi Jensen free kick. The second half started the same with Dixie in control, however momentum shifted when a Nicole Thomas goal was inexplicably called back in the 10th minute of the 2nd half after Pine View ran over their own keeper to leave an empty net, the second time Dixie had a goal called back on a "phantom" call. Pine View used the shift to their advantage and pressed the attack more and more until Pine View pulled one back in the 70th minute. 2 minutes later Dixie was again denied after a clear hand ball in the box was left uncalled on a Pine View defender. In the 78th minute Pine View found the back of the net with the game winner after a scrum in the box found the ball, unluckily, bounce off a Dixie player into the net. While disappointed the Flyers continue to hold their heads high knowing their true potential.

J.V. continued to struggle in their game as well, controlling most of the possesion but allowing a goal on the counter in the first half. That would be all the Panthers needed as the Flyers just couldn't find the back of the net.

Flyers Quiet Thunder

The Desert Hills Thunder game to Walt Brooks Stadium on Thursday and didn't find nearly as good a reception as they found last year. The Dixie varsity dominated the game from start to finish with a resounding 5-1 victory. The Flyers started the scoring in the 3rd minute when Emma found Dally on a quick through ball which she buried. Several minutes later a Nicole Thomas, Emma and Alexa worked their way throuhg the DH defense eventually freeing Emma in the box who beat the keeper with a chip over her diving body. The 2nd half started with Dixie in control again and soon found another goal, this time on a 25 yard strike from a ridiculous angle by Kenzie Cox Which was set up by a great pass from Lauren. Several minutes later Kenzie Cox dished a back pass to Madi Jensen who fired from 35 yards out and found the back of the net over the outstretched arm of the DH keeper. DH then drew one back off of a corner kick scrum but were soon disappointed by another strike by Dally who scored her second of the night.

The J.V. played a hard fought game with DH bu ended up with another tie, 1-1. Elle Roberts was the lone goal scorer.

Flyers Start Region Play with a Win!

The lady flyers started region play on Tuesday with a victory at Hurricane! As always the Lady Tigers played tough at home on the narrow pitch at HHS. Dixe controlled most of the game but couldn't seem to find the back of the net in the run of play. Dixie's scoring frustration ended however, when Madi Jensen buried not one but two free kicks from 40 yards out! That proved the difference as Dixie won 2-1 after surrendering a goal to Hurricane in the last 12 seconds of the game.

J.V. ended up tying their game 1-1 after a hard fought battle.

The Flyers finished out the pre season by hitting the road for a two day swing through Central Utah.

Dixe started the trip at Delta where both teams handled the rabbits in convincing fashion. Varsity started things off with 7-0 victory. Goals were scored by Alexa, Emma, Dally, Elle, Emily and 2 by Britton to top off a well rounded attack.

J.V. followed suit with a 5-0 victory as they controlled the game from start to finish.

Later that night the team travelled to Provo where they ate dinner at the Brick Oven and hit the hay at the Hampton.

The next day saw the team come to North Sanpete in Mt. Pleasant where each squad continued their winning ways with the Varsity winning by a score of 9-0 and J.V. winning 5-0. Region here we come!
