The girls opened up pre season on a rough note after dropping a pair of games over the weekend.
Thursday opened up against Springville with the JV starting things off with a 2-1 victory. The well played game saw goals from Fabiana Stratton and Elle Roberts. In the Varsity game the girls started strong against a very fast and very technical Springville team. Play was fairly even in the first half and saw the girls take a 1-0 lead into halftime off of a Lauren Christensen goal assisted by Nicole Thomas. In the second half things got a little more wobbly as Dixie finally gave up 2 goals to cocede the game.
On Friday Timpview came to town. Again the JV started things off with great promise in the first half with a great header by Britton Leavitt assisted by Kailey Brady. However lack of substitutes finally wore down the team as they allowed 2 goals in the second half from a fiesty Timpview team.
In the Varsity game the girls came out a little sluggish with it being their 2nd game in two nights. This along with a rash of injuries gave Timpview an opportunity to pull ahead 1-0 in the first half. The start of the 2nd half saw more of the same as Timp quickly scored their second of the game. Dixie managed to pull one back half way through the second frame when Chandlie Stratton put home a corner by Kenzie Cox. However Timpview managed to drop in 2 more late goals to pull ahead and win 4-1.
This week the girls will try to regroup, heal their injuries and look forward to our roadtrip to Delta and North Sanpete on Thursday and Friday.
